The purpose of the Significant Event Readiness Forum (SERF) is to provide an environment for exploring gaps and opportunities along the disaster response continuum. The SERF is not a disaster preparedness exercise, but instead is a facilitated discussion to foster information sharing.

OBJECTIVES:

Operational Coordination (Response): By the end of the event, participants will have a better understanding of how a unified and coordinated operational structure will be established and maintained (integrates critical stakeholders).

Public Information and Warning (Response): By the end of the event, participants will have a better understanding of how threat/hazard information will be relayed in a coordinated, prompt, reliable, actionable, and culturally and linguistically appropriate manner as well as the actions being taken and the assistance being made available.

Critical Transportation (Response): By the end of the event, participants will have a better understanding of infrastructure access and accessible transportation services, including the evacuation of people and animals, and the delivery of vital response personnel, equipment, and services into the affected areas.

Infrastructure Systems (Response): By the end of the event, participants will have a better understanding of how critical infrastructure functions will be stabilized.

Public Health, Healthcare, and Emergency Medical Services (Response as well as “Health Care and Medical Response Coordination and Medical Surge” for ADHS Categories): By the end of the event, participants will have a better understanding of how lifesaving medical treatment will be provided to populations through EMS, public health, medical, and behavioral health.

Operational Communications (Response): By the end of the event, participants will have a better understanding of how communications will be provided in support of security, situational awareness, and operations among and between affected communities in the impact area and all response forces.

Mass Care Services (Response): By the end of the event, participants will have a better understanding of how sheltering, evacuation, and reunification will be provided.
